Possible Solution--- Take of the defense budget and help these people get back on their feet.
2. Tension rising between the western world and radical Islam.--- Radical Islamic groups have become more aggressive and hostile toward the western world as a whole. Islam is a very individualistic religion so some people will follow what others say because they are looking for someone to follow.
Possible Solution--- Muslims need to find a leader that can help guide them as a figurehead, such as how catholicism has the pope.
3. More efficient fuel sources.--- We will eventually run out of oil, or destroy the planet first. There have been strides with the automobile industry but we need a larger change.
Possible Solution--- Incentivize automobile makers to work more on their production of cars that use alternative fuel sources.
4. The unrest between Russia and the United States.--- With the heavy sanctions that the US implemented on Russia and other nations following suit, tensions have definitely increased with Russia. Although we haven't fully acknowledged the threat of unrest with Russia, a surge of aggression could happen due to desperation which could lead to WW3.
Possible Solution--- We isolate ourselves slightly and let other countries be the world's police while we figure out our own issues.
5. Global Warming---- 2015 was the hottest year ever recorded by scientists. We need to acknowledge the issue of carbon pollution so we can try to slow down this process of global warming that has the potential to wipe out communities.
Possible Solution--- Reduce the use of fossil fuels and actually acknowledge this issue so we can prepare to solve the problem.
6. Growth of the global population.--- We don't have enough resources to successfully support this amount of people on the planet. We also need to find enough space to put these people which causes another issue because we are losing farmland throughout the globe.
Possible Solution--- Educate the youth more effectively and possibly limit the amount of children people can have.
7. The amount of available drinking water.---- With the global population increasing and the overcrowding of cities in poor countries, fresh drinking has become an issue for many societies.
Possible Solution--- Develop filtration systems that can allow people to drink water that would be contaminated otherwise.
8.Obesity--- The average weight of people has increased which causes health problems and other diseases such as heart failure and Type II Diabetes.
Possible solution--- Lower the prices of healthy food alternatives and make exercise mandatory for children so it becomes a habit for them for the rest of their lives.
9. Internet issues in Africa.--- This limits the amount of advances nations in Africa can make because they can't educate their children and young people about global issues or technology itself. It's important that they obtain this technology to advance their societies and develop as a continent as a whole.
Possible Solution--- Send satellites to hover over Africa and give the governments of Africa some responsibility over them so they feel like they can have some control.
10. Racism--- This is a huge issue that occurs across the globe. With the increase in social media however, everyone is exposed to racism within an instant no matter where it happens which has led to insane racial tension across the globe.
Possible Solution--- There will always be some sort of racism because people are different looking and that's a way to insult someone if a person is jealous of them or mad with another person, but I think there needs to be initiatives led by the leaders of our societies that will lead to an education of the youth to help raise awareness among our young people.
Hello Dylan,
ReplyDeleteI love your list, specially all the detail that you provided while explaining the problems. I do believe that each and every one of these problems can be considered potential threats for society and the world as a whole. I definitely agree with you regarding the amount of available drinking water and I actually believe that it could be a potential reason for a future WW3. In addition, I am also really concerned regarding global warming. I think governments should subsidise power saving technology like solar panels so they can be more affordable for regular people. I you want you can take a look at my list http://berrvh.blogspot.com/2016/01/worlds-biggest-problems.html we actually have some point in common.
Dylan,
ReplyDeleteI found all your problems to be severe problems around the world too, in fact, we shared a couple of the same problems like, racism, terrorism, and water. When making my list I did not think about homelessness being one of the world's biggest problems, but your blog got me thinking about how important it is to find a solution to homelessness. You had a lot of great ideas and solutions! Check out my blog to see how similar our posts were here: http://katieaustintx.blogspot.com/2016/01/the-worlds-biggest-problems.html
