My Entrepreneurship Story

I was exposed to entrepreneurship at a fairly young age when my dad decided to open up his own firm as a mortgage broker. I was able to see all the details that went on throughout the process, which included finding an office space, employees, and buying all the things essential to run a business. My dad was very successful with his business for several years until the market crashed, so I am very well aware of the dangers that come along with starting your own business.

I took this class because I'm considering taking on a minor in entrepreneurship, and I also think it's an important class to expose yourself to and ultimately think in a entrepreneurial spirit.

  1. I'm sorry to hear about your father's firm. There will always be risks and hopefully your father used lessons from the market crash to build something stronger. You are right that it is important to think in the entrepreneurial spirit because although there are risks, they are necessary to overcome to reach success. I hope this class and minor help you on your journey to think in the entrepreneurial spirit.

  2. Hey Dylan,
I really enjoyed reading your post about your father's entrepreneurial journey. Seeing the processes he had to go through and the tough decisions that had to be made is something I wish more people could have the opportunity to see. If I may ask, what were some of the ways that he grew his business or market share before the market detoured his business pursuits? I always love to know how each person thinks and what they consider an asset to for growth. I also noticed that you were thinking about pursuing a minor in entrepreneurship. What is your motivation to do so, if that is what you decide on? I do wish you the best in your academic pursuits and this class supports what your goals are.
