Week 4 Reading Reflection

The most surprising part of the reading to me was the amount of things that go into a creative environment because there were things that seem so minuscule but make a large difference in how successful the environment will be. One thing that was confusing to me was how the author says that it's possible to be creative in any place any time, but then emphasizes later one specific place a person can be creative. One question I would ask the author is if he believes kids are pushed away from being creative with our current education system. I would also ask him is why he thinks that corporate entrepreneurship is so good at solving very difficult issues. I didn't really disagree with anything that the author wrote this week.

Problems

1. Increasing tension between Western World and radical Islam
2. Growth of the global population
3. Amount of available drinking water
4. Finding more efficient fuel sources
5. Racism

I believe the growing tensions between the western world and radical Islam is the most serious issue because of the unknown possibilities for where and when terrorist acts can take place. Theses acts pray on innocent civilians and bring tragedy to whole nations, but if they develop certain technologies can lead to the destruction of much more than the destruction that took place on 9/11.

Solutions

1. Develop filtration systems that can allow people to drink water that would be contaminated otherwise
2. Reduce the amount of fossil fuel use and acknowledging global warming as an actual issue
3. Send satellites to hover over Africa and give the governments of Africa some responsibility over them so they feel like they can have some control.
4. We isolate ourselves slightly and let other countries be the world's police while we figure out our own issues.
5. Incentivize automobile makers to work more on their production of cars that use alternative fuel sources.

I think developing cheap and practical filtration systems would be the easiest solution to implement because there have already been strides made in this area, but the distribution and effectiveness hasn't been ideal. If we could further the development of these filtration systems needed to provide enough water to those that need it, we will have a much better world.
