Growing Social Capital

1) Mike Lucarelli- Domain expert
Mike is an app designer which is exactly what I am trying to do. I contacted him through e-mail and he gave me advice on how to go about developing my app and what steps I have to take to get it approved. He's a great asset because he has developed apps before and can be a mentor to me.

2) Josh Denison- Market expert
Josh served as an RA for one year at Grove City College and knows the struggle of students in their dorms. I contacted him by email and he was able to give me his thoughts on whether he thought my idea would be accepted.

3) Nadir Rechka- Supplier
Nadir has developed a design that would allow bluetooth to grant students access to their rooms. I also contacted him by email and he told me about how much they would be and how hard the devices are made.

This experience allowed me the opportunity to make friends in the industry that I'd like to start my business. It was an interesting experience and it helped me discover how if I can make friends I can be even more successful.

  1. Dylan, I believe you contacted the right people for feedback. And, of course, letting them know that you are working on your app is very important. You never know if they'll ask you to provide your services to them and give you something else in exchange. Good job :)

  2. Hi Dylan,
It seems like you have some very valuable research that will help you to grow your company! I think that there is something very resourceful in being able to reach out to friends (especially when they have experience) for help, it's much easier than going to random people.
